Brother Senfo Tonkam sentenced to 900 € Fine or 3 Months of Prison by a racist, impolite and aggressive white german judge Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Brother Senfo Tonkam was sentenced by a racist, very impolite and very aggressive white german judge to a
900 EUR Fine or 3 Months Imprisonment. The judge declared him guilty for
"rebelling against and wounding police officers".
The
court trial was a non-event, just a repetition of the century-long and
well-known pattern of anti-Black Lynch (un-)justice with the white
police officers and judge using and abusing the old racist stereotypes
and clichés of the "angry, over-reacting and aggressive Black Man".From the very beginning of the hearing, the judge took side with the
police and displayed the most biased, impolite and aggressive behaviour
you could imagine. Thus, she always took upon herself to answer the
questions that Brother Senfo and his attorney (Brother Amuro) were
addressing to the police officers. And whenever they got in a muddle
with their own lies and contradictory statements, she will simply
dismiss the legitimate questions of the defendant. At a point, she got
upset with Brother Senfo and fined him for alleged
"disrespectful conduct towards the judge". As this didn't
succeed in intimidating Brother Senfo, she turned against his attorney
and complained why he is not using his influence on the defendant to
"calm him down" and make him
"listening to her". But Brother Amuro calmly, firmly and boldly told her:
"Mr. Tonkam is telling the truth and you should let him tell his version of the story"
. She became more aggressive, trying harder to belittle the Black
attorney and intimidate the Black defendant. A war of words followed
and as the people in the audience (mainly Black Brothers and Sisters
who came from neighbouring towns to support Brother Senfo) were
expressing their solidarity and support to the defendant and his lawyer
as well as their satisfaction with their empowering, bold and assertive
ways of addressing the racist judge and police, the judge violently
turned against them too and threatened to throw them out of the court
room if they don't keep silent!
One
of the most cynical and ridiculous situations at this trial was when
the police officers snivelled (like cry-babies) that Brother Senfo
allegedly "wounded" them, causing two of them a "partial incapacity to work" and two weeks of "sick leave".But they and their judge could never convincingly answer Brother
Amuro's question as to how, when and in what instance exactly could
Brother Senfo have wounded them, as they were more than 8 trained
police officers to punch him out of the train, to
"fix" him to the ground of the train station, handcuff him, using all the police techniques to
"neutralize"him, and drag him to the police station where he was then tortured with
his hands remaining handcuffed in his back. In other words, everything
that these police officers and their judge said at this court hearing
was only lies, forged allegations aiming at criminalizing and
demonizing Brother Senfo, misrepresenting him as an
"aggressive and dangerous Black Man" who allegedly
"misbehaved",
"victimised" and
"endangered"the nice white police officers who were doing their job rightly and
kindly (the good old racist strategy of "blaming the victim").
The height of this racist judicial farce was with no doubt the white german judge's panic at Brother Senfo's last statement.
Asked to say
his last word after the state prosecutor and the lawyer, Brother Senfo
didn't look at the judge. He ostensibly turned to the audience and
addressed the Sisters and Brothers thusly:
"I am innocent. What you just saw is another good example of
how in a racist state, the police and the court work together to crack
down on and destroy Black People. But the struggle continues" .
This statement seemed to worry the white judge very much as she hurried
up to warn the audience against Brother Senfo's appeal, saying:
"You have heard what he just said, that the struggle continues.
No! The struggle is not continuing! No struggle should continue. No one
here has anything against Foreigners. Everything is fine. It's clear
that the police officers acted rightly, but Mr. Tonkam was
over-reacting, aggressive and non-cooperative. He rebelled against the
police officers and wounded them. What is worrisome is that he does not
even show a little sign of remorse for the wrong he did" . Blablablabla !!!
Brother
Senfo thanks all the Sisters and Brothers who attended the court trial
in Essen, as well as all those in Germany, in Africa and abroad who
couldn't come but expressed their solidarity and support through
emails, phone calls, fax messages, SMS, etc. He will come
back to all as soon as possible. You can listen to Senfo's interview on
