Exercise of the Week: Natural Glute/Ham RaiseKneel down on some padding and secure your feet behind you, either beneath a bench or machine, or you can have a partner apply resistance. Keeping your trunk upright (your back straight and in line with your hamstrings) lower yourself to the ground as slowly as possible. If you can pull your self back up, do so. Once you can pull yourself back up for ten reps, clutch a plate to your chest and start over. (Don't bet on having to add resistance for a very long time!) While this movement is primarily a hamstring exercise, it seems to increase the "tie-in" area of the glutes and hamstrings.
