Interpretations: It means that the true essence of things or people remains even if they live elsewhere. You may want to be assimilated with other races, cultures, but you are what you are. Alienated people like to hide their roots and pretend to be others because they now live or were born in Europe, America or "Eldorado". Reality is, no matter how long you lived in the wilderness, no matter how is your complexion and how smooth is your accent you are still what you are. Your roots will still be the same.
