Israel has vowed to widen its ground offensive despite international pressure for an immediate ceasefire.

The Israeli cabinet has agreed to widen its ground offensive against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

A senior spokesman said it will take up to two weeks to drive the militants back from the border to allow a multinational intervention force to move into the area.

UN officials are warning that Lebanon is facing a humanitarian crisis because aid supplies are not getting in.
